420 Mendocino Avenue

Santa Rosa, CA

As part of a local initiative to replenish the housing stock after the devastating wildfires in Northern California, this project aims to add housing and density to downtown Santa Rosa. The project is a mixed-use development with factory-built apartments over a site-built podium.

The project includes a series of on-structure gardens, a ground level mews, and an active street frontage. The landscape terraces, viewed by many residents, enliven the project with playful shapes and sculptural planting, adding interest from residents looking down onto the terraces and for the residents with patios within the gardens. The street fronting spaces provide furnishings and planting to engage the community moving by and draw visitors into the lobby and retail space.
